Oleg Shibanov was not allowed to participate in Gaidar Forum

Oleg Shibanov, Head of the Skolkovo-NES Research Center for Financial Technologies and Digital Economics, was not allowed to attend the Gaidar Forum. He told Forbes that he was not on the guest list.

Shibanov is sure that the organizers just made mistake and the incident has no political reasons. Shibanov was supposed to speak at one of the stages, after which a couple of working meetings were scheduled, which he canceled after he was unable to enter. The director of the Center admitted that he was glad of getting free time.

The press service of the RANEPA, the organizer of the forum, said that the Shibanov was indeed not indicated in the list of invited people. Nevertheless, on the forum website he is listed as an expert on the venue “Modern Money Theory: A New Look”.

Later, the press service of the forum clarified that the scientist did not register in advance, which he was warned about. Representatives of the forum organizers also said that Shibanov was offered to register at the reception, but he refused to do that.
